The inspiration for this piece is my bubu or grandfather, Koim, a chief of Tambul Nebilyer, a district near Mount Hagen. I always wanted to be like him, he is a true man of honour with a heart of pure gold. Every time I went back to the village, he’d cross rivers just to see me, no matter the time of day. He taught me patience, gentleness, kindness, and how to always do the right thing. He showed me how to lead, love others, and have faith. He is the perfect example of a true Tambul Nebilyer man, and I can only hope to be half the man he is. The face paint is distinct to the men of Tambul Nebilyer.
