Our Journey

A piece inspired by Spirit of Home – Aroma, this work follows a lakatoi sailing gently through deep blue surroundings, guided by calm waters and quiet reflection. Behind it stands a woman, watching over the journey, her presence soft yet grounding, as though ensuring the voyage remains as peaceful and beautiful as she is herself. The ocean becomes more than a setting here, it becomes emotion, memory and spirit.

In this series of works, the eyes are intentionally removed. Many say the eyes are the window to the soul, but I often wonder what remains when that window is taken away. Can the soul still be seen without distraction? As the creator of this piece, I question whether the soul is naturally pure, and whether what we see through our eyes can sometimes shape, burden or even taint it.

This work reflects on journey, direction and inner guidance. In a world that constantly encourages struggle and challenge, we are often made to believe that every hardship must be faced head-on to build character. But not every battle is necessary. Some paths are meant to be avoided, and there is wisdom in choosing peace where possible. Character is still formed either way.

The lakatoi in this piece becomes a symbol of movement without urgency, a reminder that not every journey needs a fixed destination. Sometimes the purpose is simply to move, to feel, to reflect and to trust what is within. If the soul is guiding the course, then perhaps the journey itself is already enough.
